A friend shared this video with me today; I thought it was so powerful that I just had to share it with you. Many of us are so scared to fail that we don’t even try; this is what is meant when people say that the fear of success holds us back.

No one wants to fail, we all want to be winners however you really need to change your mindset if you want to achieve anything worthwhile and look at failure in a different light.

If you are not failing you are not getting out of your comfort zone, if you are not getting out of your comfort zone you are not stretching yourself and ultimately you will not achieve your goals, unless your goals are to stay the exact same way you are now.

When I first started my career in direct sales, I was selling home security systems door to door, do you think I experienced failure? You bet I did.

To become the top sale consultant 2 years in a row before opening my own office I had to change my attitude towards failure. I changed my beliefs to not take failure personally and to think of it as nothing more than a learning experience.

Enjoy.

I have just gotten back from a two day event with my mentor Marc Dassualt, the theme of the event was about developing an exponential mindset. If you don’t know what exponential means it is increasing at an increasing rate. Or in other words it is earn more money faster, or becoming better as a sport faster than everyone else.

As I have mentioned in previous posts this year one of my goals is to acquire more of an exponential mindset so I can have and expect exponential results.

Over the next couple of weeks I am going to share with some of the powerful concepts I learnt over the weekend and show you how you can implement these same strategies in your life or business to also have exponential results.

The first powerful concepts I want to share with you is what I like to call “The 1% Difference”.

Here is a diagram to help me illustrate how it works and what it is:

a curve1

Now which curve would you like to be on and why? Curve A, Curve B or Curve C?

They all start at the same point and all finish at the same point however each one has very different results.

The fact that we are talking about having an exponential mindset curve C is a typical exponential curve so you would expect that one to be the better one, right? Well let’s have a look at Curve B it is the shortest and most direct to getting to the end results, however this is not exponential.

Curve A is where you really want to be, and here is why. If you shade the space under the curve as a measure of what you can achieve is shows that curve A has the biggest results in the shortest period of time.

a curve2

Let me explain, let’s say one axis represents time and the other money, as you can see from the diagram below Curve A is where you get exponential results.

curve a3

So the question you should be asking “how do I get on and stay on Curve A? Excellent, great question I am glad you asked ;)

You get on Curve A simply by improving at 1% at a time. Now please notice this is important I said Improving 1% at a time not Doing 1% at a time.

Here is the power in improving just 1%.

If you improved your business for example just 1% per week then you would have a 167% improved or increase in business results over the year, it is 1% compounding which is nothing short of excellent!…but wait,

What if you improved just 1% every day you would have a whopping 3778% increase – That’s OUTSTANDING! And all just from improving 1% a day.

You don’t need to take massive amounts of action and burn yourself out you simply just need to be focused and improve at a rate of 1% per day to get exponential results.

Fitness is a lifelong endeavor. Unfortunately, in our society today, with the speed of the world as we know it, even fitness goals are often set with expectations of overnight improvement. Just like fad nutrition programs, this is a sure-fire way to failure.

The fastest way to improve your overall fitness is to challenge yourself daily to make improvements no matter how small they might be. Understand from the outset, your health and wellness is a marathon, not a sprint! These small improvements not only help your Fitness but they also help you to develop a winning mindset where you know that every day you are getting better in some way.

Even if, in the course of a whole resistance training workout you only manage to do a few more repetitions in one exercise or lift a few pounds more weight in one exercise you have made an improvement that is another step up the ladder of fitness success. Naturally there will be days when you are low on energy, or are feeling lethargic for one reason or another. On days like that, just accept that simply going to the gym or exercising is a bonus in itself and sometimes it is wise to have a workout on a day like that without recording the details. Each and every one of us has ‘off’ days and that is something that we need to accept.

If we get these days more often that not then it is time to look at other aspects of your lifestyle and ask what is lacking that makes this happen. It could be something as simple as not drinking enough water during the day or possibly not getting enough sleep at night. It could also very well be from over training where the body isn’t getting enough time to recuperate between training sessions.

If you can’t make some small improvements to your fitness on a weekly basis then it is time to start looking at your training program to determine whether it needs changing. Small changes that seem minor at the time can produce outstanding results over the period of a few months or more. These same small changes can add years to your life so they are well worth aiming for.
